Tuna Burgers

Enjoy this tasty spin on a burger that is full of calcium and a great source of iron.  Eaten on a whole-wheat bun with lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, and shredded carrots, this is a healthy burger you won’t regret.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shopping List

2 4.5 ounce cans of low-sodium tuna, packed in water

1 cup of  bread crumbs, divided

1 cup low-fat shredded cheddar cheese

1 egg, lightly beaten

1/2 cup non-fat ranch dressing

1/4 cup fineely chopped onion

Non-stick cooking spray

 

Directions

Drain tuna, and separate into flakes using a fork.  In a medium bowl, combine tuna, 1/2 cup bread crumbs, cheese, egg, dressing, and onion.

Form six patties and coat each side with the remaining 1/2 cup bread crumbs. 

Spray a skillet with cooking spray and heat to medium heat.  Cook patties 3-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Serve on a whole-wheat bun with desired condiments.

Yields 6 servings.
